Justin Freeman

Posting to get some opinion on this under the radar guy.

Freeman is a 25 Y/O 6'1" RH Reliever at AA. This season he has appeared in 36 games throwing 41.333 innings. His ERA sits at 3.70, but FIP (2.93) and Sierra (2.90) like him better than that. His K/9 is 9.15 against a BB/9 of 1.96.

Should this guy have some of our attention? It seems that the Reds have a number of journeyman at AAA (Fisher, Jordan Smith, Carroll, Judy) and if the Reds don't clear some roster space making deals, it may be time to purge and move some guys with a little upside along in the system. There are a number of interesting guys in the AA pen which is overshadowed by the rotation. We've discussed Manno a bit. Pearl has had a higher profile. I remember some discussions on Drew Hayes, but little talk about Freeman.

Any info? What does he throw? How hard? etc.

Re: Justin Freeman

I'm not a scout or a wanna be, but..... check out his last 10 games. ERA of 1.29 14 innings, 6 hits. 18 K's.

I've seen him throw and he looks like a "maximum effort" guy, putting a lot into each pitch.
