Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
I haven't read the thread yet so maybe someone already covered this, but why did Dusty pick today to give Cozart and Stubbs a day off? Cozart is hitting .281/.317/.427 - .744 vs LHP (.680 vs RHP) and Stubbs is hitting .300/.347/.544 - .891 OPS vs RHP (.637 vs RHP). That makes zero sense to me.
Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
Slugger Latos with a single up the middle.
Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
Two run dinger! Yeah, baby!
Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
Heisey K's
Valdez FC to third, Latos out at 2nd
BP singles to center
Bruce grounds out to first
Reds leave 2 on
2-0 Reds to the bottom of 3.
Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
Yikes. Bruce's lack of hustle costs him an infield hit there. Throw went high, Wolf leaped to catch it, and tagged out a jogging Bruce. Lord knows I'm a huge Bruce supporter, but that is really disappointing.

I commented about Stubbs and Hanigan sitting against the lefty. Hanigan has a big split between lefty/righty.
Somebody posted an article about Dusty addressing the Hanigan thing, saying he needs to get him fresher and plans to play Mes two games in Chicago. And, of course, Navarro homered so who needs Hanigan today (joke).
As for Stubbs, I agree that it is odd timing.

They're showing footage of Joey running and sliding...looks good to me. :dunno:

Something just isn't right with him this season. He just seems out of sorts mentally. That could be any number of things, on or off the field. But I actually think he's taken a small step back this year instead of a leap forward, which is disappointing. Still a productive player, but not having the season a lot of us hoped for.
Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
Segura grounded out to third
Wolf flied out to right
Aoki bloop half-swing single to left
Gomez grounds out to short
2-0 Reds after 3.

I agree on Stubbs, I think he should be in the lineup over Heisey. But I don't mind Valdez over Cozart. Cozart's really been struggling, and even though he hits lefties better than he does righties, it's not like he tears them up like Stubbs does. And the best bet of getting some production out of Valdez is against a lefty I would think.
Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
I really like Aoki. Seems like a very useful ballplayer. I'd say we should have tried to acquire him, but given his contract and his skill set I don't know why Milwaukee would want to move him.
Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
Ludwick flies out to left
Frazier K's
Cairo hits one hard up the middle but Wolf snags it and throws him out
2-0 Reds to the bottom of 4

Cozart has had his problems, I agree, but right now he's pretty hot. He's OPS'd .922 for the last seven games and I thought he was terrific in the Pirates series.
The guy who needs some bench time is Todd Frazier. He's hitting .160 with a .542 OPS over the last seven games and he's fanned twice today. He looks tired to me, or just not his usual feisty self. But I guess resting Rolen, day game after night game, took precedence. When Votto comes back, maybe Todd will get some days off.
Re: 8/8/2012 Reds at Brewers
Latos has fanned Braun twice today.
