Pascual Perez Murdered

NBC Sports

Quote:

two Spanish language newspapers are reporting that former major league pitcher Pascual Perez was murdered in a robbery in his home this morning in the Dominican Republic.
RIP to one of the game's great characters.

Certainly hate to hear about this. He was a true character of the game. He was actually a pretty ddecent pitcher for a short time with the Braves. I remember that I-285 incident very well too. The TBS broadcasters laughed about that one for years and gave him the nickname I-285. He even had it on the back of his warmup jacket, IIRC. RIP Pascual Perez. You made the game fun.

Vicente Padilla throws that pitch. Always throws it to Texieara(sp?) The 2 hate each other.

I saw Perez throw that eephus pitch live during a game I was watching. And I think it was a perfect strike too.

Same here. He was an odd one to say the least, but fun to watch. RIP. :(

I thought about him last winter when I found myself on I-285.

Didn't Pascual Perez also have a long-snap pick-off move, in which he would toss the ball between his legs to first?

I saw him fake a throw between his legs but don't remember him actually doing it. But he may have. Wouldn't surprise me if he did.
