Re: Joey Votto named Southern League Most Valuable Player
I tell you what, Votto has got to be considered a top 20 prospect in baseball for the numbers he put up at AA this year. I know he is usually considered behind Bailey and Bruce (because of their upside), but if you told me a 22-yr old second round pick (meaning he hardly came out of nowhere) was going to be MVP of the Southern League and contend for the triple crown, I would tell you no matter what that guy is a top 20 prospect in baseball. Look for Votto to split time with the Hat next year as soon as the Hat starts to struggle a bit. I agree that the Hat will most likely be trade bait come July, with Votto taking over at 1B full time soon after.
Do the Reds really have three top twenty prospects in all of baseball? It certainly appears that way!
