Re: All Breakout Team
I don't have time for a full team, but I'll throw a few out:
1B: Prince Fielder - Could hit 40 HR at just 23
2B: Howie Kendrick - .361/.405/.570 in the minors - think Soriano, but actually 23, a better glove, and more contact. Felipe Lopez like speed.
SS: Stephen Drew
3B: EE - All aboard! Alex Gordon is a close 2nd but might be a year away.
LF Matt Murton - Cubs wouldn't know solid production if it bit them in the face. Reminds me of a young Bobby Abreu minus the speed.
SP Cole Hamels - After the AS last year; 87.2 IP, 101 SO, 24 BB, 3.39 ERA, 1.10 WHIP -- just turned 23. Think Roy Oswalt levels of performance.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
