Can't help you with the accomodations, but I can recommend a day trip down to Huntington Beach
and Brookgreen Gardens
Huntington Beach is a state park with a great beach. It has outdoor showers, clean restrooms and picnic areas within a walk of the beach. Across the street is Brookgreen Gardens. My parents have a season pass there and if you like that kind of stuff, the place has astounding plants, sculptures and a boat tour of the rice canals behind the old plantation home. You wouldn't think it's a great place for kids, but mine love it and they've been going their since before they could walk. And between the two places, it's virtually a guarantee that you'll see some gators.
On the way back, you can stop in Murrell's Inlet
, the best seafood town on the coast.
Have fun in Myrtle, but consider these places for a change of pace one day. I don't think you'll regret it one bit.
