Piepkorn, Reds nip Miracle
April 7, 2007

Jeremiah Piepkorn doubled in the go-ahead run in the 12th inning to lift visiting Sarasota to a 3-2 victory over Fort Myers on Friday night.
With one out in the 12th, Adam Rosales was hit with a pitch by Miracle reliever Zachary Ward (0-1) and moved to second base on a wild pitch. Piepkorn, who went 2-for-5, lined a double to left field to break a 2-2 tie.

Four Reds relievers combined to give up two hits with three walks over 7 2/3 scoreless frames. Logan Ondrusek yielded two hits with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings and Rick Asadoorian followed, surrendering a single and walking three in two innings. Robert Manuel (1-0) retired all six batters he faced to pick up the win. Josh Roenicke struck out two batters in a perfect 12th to earn his second save.

Johnny Cueto started for Sarasota (2-0) and was charged with two runs on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.

Whitney Robbins went 2-for-5 with two RBIs for Fort Myers (0-2). -- Eric Justic/MLB.com
Johnny suffered through some command issues last night, much like he did early last year when moving up to high A ball.
