Reds’ pitcher Bill Bonham and Astros’ pitcher Joaquin Andujar exchange beanball pitches, causing an infuriated Ray Knight to challenge the Houston bench from his third base position. Astros’ center fielder Cesar Cedeno leaps over the dugout railing and fights with the Reds’ third baseman. Knight lands several punches before being surrounded by Cedeno’s teammates. Cedeno and Knight are ejected.
Interestingly, on December 18, 1981, they would be traded for each other. (I still think the Astros got the better end of the deal.)
