Really, all this tells me is that the Reds, as an organization, don't plan on spending much money this offseason or trying to get better. If they are going to keep David Weathers for 2008 that means they have an important role lined up for him. If they have an important role lined up for him, we're in trouble.
Of course, you could always look at it that if the Reds ARE planning to spend money in the offseason to get better, they're better off hanging onto reasonably priced talent than cutting it loose and having to buy a replacement at, potentially, a higher price.
