If not then the Reds are responsible for the 2008 contract, plus the buyout (but not the incentives ) minus the major league minimum which the Cards would be responsible for.
Hmmm... I'm not sure. I don't think a team is responsible for buyout clauses once a player is not on their roster, unless, of course, nobody picks him up. I could be wrong though.
