Re: Exciting Times for UK Sports Fans...
A few other nuggets I overheard this week:
- The financing package that UK is seeking for these improvements has been publicized to be in the range of $300-350 million. However, the consensus within the AD is that their desired improvements will eventually surpass those figures before the actual work is completed. This realization is one of the primary reasons that they decided to get the ball rolling now and begin promoting the plan to the private sector.
- One of the big audacious goals for the football stadium improvements involves the creation of a large restaurant where the press boxes are currently situated. The plan is to build an "upper ring" of new press boxes above the skyboxes on that side of the stadium. The restaurant would be situated between the 40 yard lines and could be accessed directly by those ticket holders in the sections directly adjacent to where the current press box is situated.
- Once the new baseball stadium is complete (across from the Arboretum on Alumni Drive), the recently remodeled Cliff Hagan stadium (capacity around 2,000) will become a softball only facility.
