Would Kendrick at second and Wood/Izturis at short would be an improvement over Phillips and Janish at short?
The Angels might be willing to add a Phillips and his contract in order to take a step toward improving their elite team. The Reds could benefit from reducing payroll at second and adding depth/offense at short.
I actually thought of this same thing (Kendrick and Izturis) a few weeks back. Don't know if LAA would be interested but it would be a way to improve a little overall and save some dollars in the short term. Wood I just have no interest in I think he's likely a bust. I think Francisco would also interest them to some extent. In fact we match up so well with LAA in so many ways it would be in our best interest to explore that further.
A much more consistent offense and fluid lineup with no completely incompetent performers. Would the money saved allow us to pursue a big bat (Dye) to bat 5th if so it's a brilliant move.
