The car-rental tax has been one of the prongs which funded the many other new spring training parks that have popped up all over Arizona, but this is the first I'm hearing where Cactus League tickets will be taxed to pay for new stadiums. Details are obviously still in the works so this could change.
Really not surprising at all. Admission taxes are a regular one that's been around for years all over the place. Here in Cincinnati, if you buy a $25.00 Reds ticket, about 70 cents is the tax. Same for movie tickets, $9.00 at the Esquire includes about 23 cents for tax (I just looked these up). Pay $70.00 to see a concert? Two dollars is for the tax.
