A more forward-thinking approach would have Phillips batting 9th, with the pitcher batting 8th. This would lead to more opportunities for Phillips to hit with a runner on 2nd (advanced over by the pitcher) and greatly reduce his GIDP opportunities.
Plus, if it was paired with a Stubbs/Dickerson 1&2 combo, it would give tremendous speed in that section of the batting order.
At first I thought this was tongue-in-cheek. Now I'm not so sure. Is it?
