My best memory of Junior was going to see him on Sunday June 24, 2007
in Seattle when he was there with the Reds. They had a big ceremony for him on Friday, but it was on Sunday that he hit two solo homers against the Mariners, and got a standing ovation from the Seattle faithful each time. The first homer was just over the left-center field fence, and Bloomquist jumped up and everyone thought he caught it, so there was a bit of a delayed reaction. The one later in the game was a classic no doubter to right....just hammered.
It seemed like every kid in the near sold out stadium had a Griffey shirt on, and he loved it. I remember him making a great catch in right field that day, and at one point near the end of the game Jr. doffing his hat to the fans. My kids and I loved it. Best game I ever attended....even though the Reds lost.
"I think he'd be unbelievable. He's as organized as anyone in the game, he holds people accountable... He doesn't buy into stereotypical things in the game... Price looks at evidence. He's a freaking smart guy, he makes his decision on reasonable evidence." Bronson Arroyo
