In the minors Yonder has been a .292/.383/.447 guy. I have a feeling you will see an increase in his slg once his wrist fully heals. So the issue really becomes, if the Reds think that Alonso can sustain his minor league numbers in the MLB, are you willing to trade Gomes slg for Yonder's OBP?
Depth is important. Particularly on a team like the Reds which lacks true superstars. You need as many good players as you can get.
It's too soon to consider trading a boatload of prospects for Cliff Lee. In July, it might be a good move.
Meanwhile, the Reds need to improve their bench so if guys like Valaika and Alonso keep raking at AAA, I'd give them a shot in a platoon or backup capacity. I'd also consider a trade for a good utility man, preferably a left handed hitter or switch hitter. I'd also consider a move for another good righty reliever.
