I've read it at a lot of other places as well, this was just the first one I found with a quick search. Also, Cot's Baseball Contracts has him with 2 more arbitration years under reds control on their contract spreadsheet.

I stand corrected. I just found this.

Option 1: Non-tender. This means they do not offer the player a contract and he is released from the team and joins the free agent pool. Whatever team signs him would then have his next 3 years of control should they so choose.

It seems odd that a player would be a free agent and then go back under the control of a team for several more years. But that seems to be the case.
