And they cut Garrard because he was the 3rd best quarterback on the team. Just another sign they are better. Last years #1 is #3 this year.

See Jax, I don't think that pattern is good at all really. If this was 1985 that might be an acceptable standings climb, but in the NFL today you must improve more quickly that that.
For example, the Redskins went 5-11 last year. I would be happy if they went 7-9 this year under certain circumstances. However, if they followed that up with 8-8 in 2013, I'd consider that a big disappointment and I'd be very wary of the "plan." Maybe NFL fans have simply become too impatient, but the league is set up for quick success. I think any new regime or rebuilding program should get a two year grace period for sure. After that, all bets are off.
The Jags have made that steady climb....but is Luke McCown/Gabbert going to get them beyond 8-8 this year? I doubt that.
And even if Gabbert comes in later in the year and looks good and let's say they go 7-9 with an up arrow for next year....that would still be four straight non-playoff seasons under Del Rio.
I just don't see that team building in a very functional way right now.
