Everybody has their own personality and their own coaching style, but I have watched Dusty long enough to know a couple of things. I will not comment on his use of players - only that when Dusty starts trusting his gut feelings and epiphanies he is making a mistake. He does not have that type of personality and he is not that type of manager. Sometimes you need to know who you are and I don't think even after years of coaching, that Dusty knows who he is.
In a positive sense here is how I would sum up Dusty. He is an offensive minded manager who is able to allow talent to emerge from talented players. He is able to use his skills as a former player to foster hitting. He is also able to cultivate pitching, but has a knack for using it ineffectively.
