Not really. Sure, it matters what team you bring to the playoffs. But a team's performance heading in to the playoffs isn't predictive of playoffs success.

Sure, I'm a little concerned about Votto and Chapman being full strength. But I couldn't care less how the team performs in September so long as we take the division.

Being "hot" as a team might make us feel more confident, but it doesn't really help the team's chances of winning moving forward.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
