The Reds have quality in-house solutions if the free agent market doesn't work out for them.
Thing is, with Chapman in the rotation, the Reds have some questions in the pen. Broxton and Marshall are solid and I think Lecure could be ready for a bigger role. OTOH, Hoover is still unproven with some command issues and flyball tendencies and could be hit hard now that the league has seen him a bit. Masset is coming off a pretty serious arm problem. Ondrusek is a fringe guy. Simon had a career year at age 31 and is no sure thing to repeat. Arredondo walks the ballpark. I think the Reds need another guy with a track record. Getting one who is a lefty makes the most sense.
Assuming Leake is the long reliever and Lecure, Marshall and Broxton are locks, the Reds need three more guys. I don't want three of those others on the roster. I'd go with Hoover and one of the others. The last spot would be for an addition or maybe Cingrani. Masset, Ondrusek, Simon and Arredondo should be fighting for one spot IMO.
