There's a reason starters make more money than closers, and garner way more in trades. Without question, a top notch starter is worth more than a top closer.
Remember, in spring training last year Chapman was not only the best SP in the Reds camp, but many down there said he was they best they saw in all of AZ. And it's not like this is a one way street. If it doesn't work out he can always go back to the pen. I think it's absoloutely worth the risk to see what kind of starter he can be.
