In this scenario, if the pitcher does swing away(or happens to lay down a really bad bunt), and the ball is put into play hit decently hard at the SS, do you want your first basemen(even one with Votto's tools) to be trying to hustle to the secondbase bag to take the flip and turn the double-play?? You could easily be risking costing yourself an out and leaving an extra man on the bases just to attempt to have a small strategic advantage that will rarely be relevant.
