Not that I am saying he will be Joey Votto, but Mesoraco and Votto had nearly the exact same line at the exact same age in Louisville. Average/OBP/SLG were almost identical across the board. Mesoraco walked 10% to Votto's 12%. Mesoraco struck out 16.6% to Votto's 18.9%.
So what is it going to take? What numbers does he have to put up in AAA? Does he have to go Jay Bruce and hit .360? What will it take?
Why should he be given anything, doug?
He has to earn his time, just like everyone else.
And, as you've so often told the rest of us, minor league numbers don't tell the whole story.
Let him earn his time, just like everyone else in the game on good teams.
