I have no idea how hard Griffey worked on staying in shape late in his career.I hope he worked very hard but I don't think I'd put money on it. Something that I would bet on is that I could make it down the first base line faster then he did 90% of the time and I'm not that fast. I loved Griffey but I don't believe it was all that hard to notice that sometimes he dogged it. With that said, I have no doubt that he busted his butt to get back from injuries that might of ended some professional athletes careers. You also don't become the best baseball player in the world by being lazy. He wasn't Pete Rose but I wouldn't go so far as to calling him lazy.
