Griffey played for years on the turf in Seattle. It's no surprise his legs gave out. Larkin played for years on the turf in Cincy. His body gave out towards the end, too. But he had his prime years in Cincy, so we remember him for that. Griffey's prime was somewhere else, and we witnessed his greatness on the backside of his career. The fans, and the front office, are more at fault than Jr. Griffey gave it his all. Remember when he separated his shoulder diving for a ball in center field? Sure, he put on some weight.
