I do not see anyone wanting to be a closer over starter unless they thought they would fail miserably at being a starter. Who in their right mind would choose making 40 million for rest of their career to 150 million. The difference he is looking at in next contract comparing dominant closer to dominant starter.
I'm not sure I follow this as Chapman has pretty clearly stated that he'd prefer to stay in the bullpen but he's more than willing to do what the club wants. Personally, I think it's in Aroldis' best interest to start, but he definitely grew to liking the closers role.
