Re: 2013 MLB Draft order with Bonus pool numbers
I am skeptical of Wilson, especially with other interesting RH bats like Judge and Ervin possibly available in the late 20s (along with McKinney). I did not like Wilson's swing coming out of HS, and despite his lofty prospect status he has never dominated at the college level. I am wary, too, of the "chiseled speciman" effect. Plus, you've got his elbow injury this year, which may threaten his plus arm down the road.
My simple preference is for 1 hitter and 1 pitcher in their first two picks, and I think I'd prefer an OF other than Wilson. But big RH power in an athletic guy is a pretty scarce commodity, so I wouldn't hate the pick. BTW, I am intrigued by the athleticism and multiposition flexibility of JaCoby Jones. Maybe not at 27/38, but in the 2nd round, that's a nice high ceiling pick.
