Re: Minor-League Player of the Day
Monday, June 3: Billy Hamilton, Louisville . . . 2-4, HR, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI. For excitement, which is apparently Billy's middle name, it's hard to beat an eighth-inning, game-winning, two-run, inside-the-park home run. It was the fourth of his career--one each season. Opposing center fielders should be severely advised never to attempt a shoestring catch on a ball struck by Billy Hamilton.
Also notable . . .
Armando Galarraga: 7.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K. ERA 2.70. Nice season so far.
Pedro Damian: The DSL Rojos' 20-year-old RH looked mighty good by the numbers--4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K.
David Vidal: 2-3, BB.
Yorman Rodriguez: only 1-5, but the 1 was a two-out, two-run, ninth-inning, game-winning double.
Marquez Smith: 2-3, BB, 2 R.
Steve Selsky: 2-4, 2B, remains hot. It appears that the key to Selsky has been located. Three games ago, he was moved to first base. Since then, he's 6 for 11 with 3 HR, a 2B, and 7 RBIs. (The other key to Selsky--the California League.)
Juan Duran: 2-4, 2B.
Juan Perez: 1-2, 2B, 2 BB.
Pat Doyle: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K.
