If there is a three-way tie, then the clubs are seeded based on head-to-head records. If they have identical head-to-head records, then they are ranked by intradivisional records. The #1 seed then has its choice of being designated Team A, B, or C. The #2 seed gets second choice, with the #3 seed getting the remaining designation. The day after the regular season ends, Team A hosts Team B in a one-game playoff. The next day, the winner hosts Team C in a one-game playoff.
Thanks. How does the wildcard come into play? I'm assuming these games wouldn't figure into head-to-head record to determine home team? Theoretically, you could play three games prior to ever getting to the LDS round.
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.
