To me, the takeaway phrase in this story might be, "Playing with energy and enthusiasm . . ." That's what seemed to be so sorely lacking from him in years past, and blatantly holding him back. Also promising is the quote about "working hard on plate discipline and pitch recognition," as much for the "working hard" as for the mechanics themselves (which of course are very important).
In addition, it's nice to read the high praise of his defense. Past reports haven't been nearly so friendly. All in all, this is a very encouraging glimpse.
