That's a legitimate stat. It doesn't take away the fact that given consistent playing time, he has the ability to put up big numbers. He needs 600 AB's/year for a couple of years.
You'd be much better off to just say, "Yeah, he's not very good right now."
The more consistent his playing time gets, the worse he's become. Go figure.
And using your timeline, if Lane gets consistent AB for the next couple seasons, he might be really good by age 30 or 31. Yippee.
