I, unfortunately, lost my final remaining grandparent this morning and I think this story shows that hope is a common human reaction and blessing in situations such as this.
There is always the hope that a cure will be found in time to help an individual situation.
I think that is the great differentiator for mankind... Our ability to hope for a better future and our ability to choose our response to every situation.
I am humbled to see how Lou Gehrig chose to deal with this terrible disease, both privately and the heroic way that he chose for most of us to see.
My grandmother chose a similar path with her affliction. I cannot express eloquently enough, the impact both have made.
