Yosemite's the most beautiful place I've been; I can't speak beyond that. I think California on the whole was breathtaking (I've also done the Big Sur drive).
San Francisco reminded me of Sydney, another beautiful city (with great beaches). And even if it's overcrowded, nothing compares with the cognitive dissonance experienced when I first glimpsed the Grand Canyon.
