The Vietnam Era churned out stuff similar to this as well. Mission Impossible, Man from Uncle, Avengers, Wild Wild West etc...
Hollywood always draws from the current culture and tries to expoloit of wax over it.
Take the subtle racial makeup of Star Trek, which was a nod to a changing world.
Also washing the masses in that era was the slow trickle of the "Post war 50's Family" comedies and the introduction to the "Fantasy Genre," Land of the Giants, Time Tunnel, Lost in Space, My Favorite Martian, I Dream of Jeanie, Bewitch, and so on.
