BERGOLLA OUT: Second baseman William Bergolla has a hernia that needs to be surgically repaired. The Reds don't know exactly how long he'll be out.
"We'll know better after he see the doctor," trainer Mark Mann said.
The hernia was discovered in a pre-camp physical.
Bergolla, 23, played 17 games for the Reds last year, hitting .132. He hit .293 with two home runs, 38 RBI and 16 steals in 98 games for Triple-A Louisville.
With the addition of Tony Womack to an already crowded field at second base, Bergolla had almost no chance of making the team.
