I agree. Freel needs to start. I'd love to see him everyday in leftfield, Dunn at first, and Phillips at second. I can see not starting certain players on a daily basis if they have holes in their game and would hurt the team if they played every day, but I don't see that with Freel. His defense is not strong, but stick him in one position (leftfield) and let him work on his fielding excusively at that position. He could be very passable leftfielder because he is fast enough to cover the position and outrun his mistakes.
I'm not even certain why the lefties have to be split up unless there is a dominating lefty specialist rested and waiting in the opposition's bullpen. If you push Dunn back a spot in the line-up, you could prevent him from batting several times a season (his last at bat) against righty closers. It would not be fun to watch Aurilia strike out for the final out against Brad Lidge or Jason Isringhausen with Dunn in the in deck circle
