I went to the International players hotel after the match, was one of the greatest nights ever.
One of the best 5 days ever too.

Melbourne to Cincinnati - September 1st - 12th 2013
So Fil3232 and I (and some friends) have started a golf blog, and I'd love to get some feedback from folks on here:

This piece is our prized creation so far, and we're pretty proud of it. If you guys like it and wouldn't mind sharing with other golf fans, it would be greatly appreciated. Apologies for spamming, but figured many here would be entertained. Criticism welcome as well!

That was hilarious. Great job!

I'm hoping this is the week for Kokrak. He's spent a lot of time on the top part of the leaderboard in early rounds this season, and one of these days he's gonna throw up a crazy low number on a Saturday or Sunday and win one of these things.
Any and all criticism is welcome, honestly. We've only been up and running for a month. It's been really fun, and addicting.
We're accepting all ideas for "Part 2" to that piece as well!
Jimmy Walker has a six-stroke lead after three rounds at Pebble Beach. Dyn-o-mite! Actually, Mr. Walker is having one heckuva 2014 so far. He won the Sony Open in January and is well on his way to his second win on the young season.
This is great- hugely funny and well written. The only problem I have is that I play with some guys who, without irony, actually do some of this stuff.
Sometimes I feel like a whole book could be written on the characteristics of golf culture, from the country club members who pimp out their own carts and size each others' net worth up on the practice green to the middle class muni players who act like they own their table at the grill.
I've always gravitated towards the guys who can play, and who do it without all that posing, or without a new set of clubs every two years, and who can play a sand wedge on any shot from 100 yards in, but who don't make a big show of it. Maybe it's just guys being guys, but there's a lot of material to be mined for a good writer there if you're jaded, cynical and cranky. And yes, I play a lot of golf by myself...

He is on fire. With the PGA Tour now starting each season after the Tour Championship, it'd actually be his 3rd win this "season".
On a side note, his caddie is his good friend Andy Sanders who grew up in Cincinnati. Andy is a great player as well having won the state championship twice and played on the Web.com Tour before he stopped playing due to medical reasons.

Thanks guys. I'm a bit surprised how much play it's gotten. Approaching 6,500 page views in a little over a week.
We actually just got credentialed to cover the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this weekend. Here is our summary of that for those interested: http://nolayingup.com/2014/02/09/not...-pebble-beach/
We've got some more funny stuff coming this week with part 2 to the pro piece, as well as our construction of a football team made of just tour pros.
Thanks all for the feedback.
Part II of "How to Act Like a Tour Pro" is live! Enjoy:

The Rules Official
You need to take a routine drop, but the stakes are high. You pull out your cell-piece to summon the assistant club pro (same one you clashed with earlier at the practice facility) to the farthest point on the course to give you a ruling. You refer to him as “Slugger” and take an inordinate amount of time getting the proper drop. Meanwhile, the rest of your group has finished the hole.
Nice reference to Judge Smales. Nothing beats a good Caddyshack reference.

Nice seeing Bubba back. New irons, his old putter, and renewed confidence.
