Tiger is 9 under through 13 holes at Firestone. Has a good chance at a 59, heck he may do better.

They were talking during the telecast that if you take out the two tournaments this year where Tiger was playing with an injured elbow: He's won 4 (assuming today) and finished 6th and 4th in 6 tournaments.

Ya. He's back and has been back for quite a while.

Jack is still the greatest of all-time, but I'll gladly put Tiger at #2. Jack has the most majors, the most runner-up finishes in majors, and he was playing against stronger competition than Tiger has played against.

The funny thing to me is people trying to compare 2013 Tiger and 2013 Phil. That it's even being debated about who the player of the year is, is laughable, IMO. Take away Phil's back nine at the British Open, and he isn't even in the discussion. Tiger has won far more tournaments this year, won a lot more money, has a huge lead in Fed Ex points, and Tiger doesn't play in all those smaller events Phil plays in. If you're going to give the POY award based on one 9-hole stretch in one tournament, even if it's a major, then the award isn't worth having.

    Good call, Dave!

They always say you "can't win a tournament on Thursday or Friday, but you can lose one of Thursday and Friday", but this tournament was clearly won Friday.

Between the upcoming PGA and Holly Sonders I can stomach stuttering Charlie Rymer for the next couple of days. Really looking forward to "Glory's Last Shot" this weekend. Who ya got?

They could put Larry, Moe and Curly on the set with Holly and I'd still tune in.

I would put Jack #1 overall but I don't buy the stronger competition argument. What Tiger had done is phenomenal when you take into consideration golf's growth as well as the added conditioning each and every player takes serious.

I have often wondered this. What would Phil's legacy have been had he not come to prominence when Tiger was at his prime. Phil will go down as a great golfer, but if he wasn't going head to head with Tiger he may be an all time great up there with the likes of Hogan.

Phil started five years before Tiger. Phil was considered the next great thing, until Tiger came along. Since Tiger came on the scene, it's just those two, as far as obvious future HOFers in their prime the entire time.

Look at the all-time PGA wins list. Tiger is 2nd and Phil is 9th (37 wins behind Tiger). Then, for players in a similar time frame, it drops down to Davis Love III (tied for 33rd), Ernie Els (tied for 38th) and Jim Furyk (tied for 51st). Next on the list, believe it or not, is David Duval. Think about that. David Duval. So, IMO, there is no comparison between the caliber of player Jack regularly faced, compared to what Tiger has faced.

Gates open in 10 minutes or so. Dufner off early this morning as well as D. Johnson and then Tiger a little after him. I always think about the pucker factor these Club Pros have while on the first tee this time of year as well.
