Votto struck out 138 times in 2013, and was on pace for 130 Ks last year too. For a guy who allegedly doesn't get pitches to hit, that seems high.

Last year he had 152 PAs with 2 Strikes in the count - He hit .165 with a .510 OPS in those situations AND SIX RBI, and 0 HR.

In 2013: Votto had 370 Plate Apps with 2 Strikes in the count. He hit .174 with a .560 OPS in these Plate Apps. With 3 Hr, and 12 RBI.

So, in the last 2 years. 500+ Plate Appearances with 2 strikes in the count - He has totaled 18 RBI And 3 HR with a .500 ish OPS.

You have at least provided context of what an average players average, OPS, or HR totals are like with 2 strikes, but I suppose that would be too much work as opposed to breaking down every component of Joey Votto. His .211 average with a .684 OPS with 2 strikes in his MVP season of 2010 doesn't leap off the page. Oh and he struck out 125 times that season too. Can't accept what? That Votto's clearly very good 2013 should be tainted by this MIND-BLOWING analysis of his performance with two strikes that, again, provides no context? And last years stats don't mean anything to me given Votto's clear injury problems. His performance in April of last year shows he was off to a fine start before his season was basically wiped out.

But yes, I have a photo of Votto that makes me laugh as my avatar, so I'm the one with no credibility. Whiffey is not our savior, yada yada yada.

And if you think in the year 2015 that I care about RBIs, you are mistaking me with someone else.

Pony Keg logic uses data from an injury year and focuses on RBI in 2 strikes situations without mentioning if another player was on any base during the at bats.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Votto is Votto. He has been paid and lauded for his approach. The only thing that causes me to wonder about his approach (and really who am I to question his success) is that he likens himself and his approach to Ted Williams. Get a good ball to hit. Do not succumb to other people and their criticism. But, with a comparison to Williams, at least Williams was a man that hardly struck out.

I was struck by a quote that Williams offered in his autobiography that said, essentially each year he would strike out 50 or so times, but half of those strike outs were balls he took because he just could not bring himself to swinging at a "bad" pitch. Which, is all well and good. And I understand that. But, gee whiz... that means that Ted Williams, in the span of 400+ plate appearances a year would only strike out 50 times, and take called strikes 50% of the time for those strike outs

Votto, on the other hand, can get 50 strikeouts in two months of games.

Too me that is a lot of non productive at bats for the teams BEST hitter.

But, again, that's just my take on it. People see things differently.

It also ignores his OBP in those situations, which I assume was relatively good.

Oh, I forgot- we're living in the 90's, and all that matter for players is RBIs and AVG.
