Reds:

Vic Correll (66) -Career backup C who caddied for Johnny Bench in the late '70s.

Don Hoak -Tough-guy IF who spent a couple of years with the Reds in '57 and '58. Supposedly once faced young pitcher Fidel Castro in the Cuban winter league. Married popular singer-actress Jill Corey; their daughter Clare has also done some acting. Died at age 41 when he suffered a heart attack after chasing a man who'd stolen his brother-in-law's car.

Others:

Roberto Alomar (44) -Would probably have been a first-ballot Hall of Famer if not for the John Hirschbeck spitting incident. He made it the next year.

Mike Heath (57) -Best known as a catcher for Oakland and the Yankees, but he played every position on the field except pitcher during his ML career.

Hank Aaron (78) -The last active major league player to have played in the Negro Leagues, dating back to his days as a left-handed shortstop for the Indianapolis Clowns.

Roger Peckinpaugh -The AL MVP in 1925; not really that good a player, though. Later managed the Yankees briefly and the Indians for a longer stretch.

In 1922, outfielder Max Flack was involved in a trade between two teams that were playing each other in a doubleheader. He appeared in the first game for one team, and in the second game for the other. Wonder how his uniform fit?
