    Birthdays: 2/10

    Reds:

Ruben Mateo (36) -A Red outfielder in 2002-03. Last sighted in the Mexican League in 2009.

Sherman "Roadblock" Jones -Bullpen arm on the '61 pennant winners. Pitched one game in the World Series. Later spent 22 years on the Kansas City police force, then another twelve as a state legislator. Died in 2007.

    Others:

Lance Berkman (36) -AKA "The Big Puma" or "Fat Elvis". He's a Cardinal so I have to hate him, but actually he seems like a nice guy. Hard to imagine at this stage in his career that he was once primarily a center fielder. His stated goal is to succeed Augie Garrido as Texas baseball coach in a few years.

Lenny Dykstra (49) -Had three uncles who played in the National Hockey League. His son is currently in the Washington farm system. And, of course, his life in the last couple of decades has pretty much been one grease fire after another.

Allie Reynolds -Nicknamed "Super Chief" (his mother was a Muscogee Indian). Attended Oklahoma A&M on a track scholarship. While practicing his javelin one day, legendary basketball coach Hank Iba, who was also the baseball coach at A&M, noticed his arm and asked him to pitch to some of the college hitters. He struck out the first four without any of them even being able to foul one off, and the rest is history. There are probably pitchers in the HOF that weren't any better than Allie, but that's the way it goes...

Herb Pennock -Left-handed starter who went directly to the majors from high school in 1912. Played on seven World Series champions, and only missed an eigth because he was fighting in World War One when his Red Sox won in 1918.
