As of now, he's projected as the Indians everyday RFer with Swisher at 1B and Reynolds DHing.

Francona will have a lot of moving pieces. No way Santana will catch every day, but he'll be in the lineup every day, meaning he'll have to play some 1B and DH. Swisher will play some RF. Reynolds will play some 1B. Stubbs will play some LF and RF (and CF when Bourn gets a day off). This all presuming Stubbs isn't traded.

Also, for those saying how much the Indians' pitching staff stinks, while it's not good, it's certainly not bad. What if Jimenez even approaches his old form? Then you're looking at a staff like:

    1. Jimenez
    2. Masterson
    3. Bauer
    4. Myers

Then several candidates for 5th spot, such as Kazmir, Dice-K and others. That has the potential to be a solid staff.

They also have a pretty good bullpen.

No way they would compete in one of the best divisions in baseball, but they can compete in the AL Central, the weakest division in baseball. It has only one good team and if the Tigers go south, I could see the Indians having a sneaky-good year and winning that division. I sure hope it doesn't happen. Living in Columbus is annoying as hell when the Indians are doing well. So many bandwagon Tribe fans around here. Talk about them non-stop when they're doing well, ignore them when things are going poorly. This explains the phenomenon of not being able to find an Indians fan in Columbus prior to 1994 when they ceased being the laughing stock of MLB.

I'd hate to be a flyball hitter against the Indians. That outfield is going to be sick defensively.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

It only makes sense. Stubbs is a weak player as an every day OF and even weaker in a corner, but have you seen the rest of the Indians roster. If not Stubbs playing every day, who would DH? Say Swisher plays RF and Reynolds plays 1B, they don't really have a better option.

The Indians should nab Mike Carp who was just DFAd by Seattle. He may make a decent platoon guy with Stubbs (maybe not a straight platoon, but a lot of the time). For that matter, the Reds should look into it. He may be an option as a LH PH and caddy for Ludwick if Xavier Paul turns into a pumpkin.
