Who would you play stickball in the streets with?

I'm currently reading "Willie Mays: The Life, The Legend" by James S. Hirsch, and it's a fantastic book. In it, Hirsch writes about how Willie, even into his mid to late 20s, would play stickball in the streets of Harlem with neighboorhood kids, would take them to get sodas, and was really just one of the guys. How freaking cool is that? Here's this phenom, a guy that's been on the cover of Time magazine and is developing into a cultural icon, and you're playing ball with him in the street and going to the convenience store with him.

What ballplayer from the past or present would you most want to spend a day with playing stickball and drinking sodas?

I'm going to give a Reds player, and a non-Reds player. Reds player: Barry Larkin. He was how I identified with this ballclub throughout my youth. Barry Larkin was the Reds, from the day I was born until I was a sophomore in college. Hanging out with him on a personal level would be way too cool.

Non-Reds division: Reggie Jackson. Sure, he was one of the biggest asses you could ever meet in your life. Arrogrant, brash, cocky. But I'd love to hear stories about George, Billy, Charles Finley, and all the other insane characters this guy shared a baseball career with. Not to mention, he was quite the character himself.

Sure, while playing stickball. Afterwards, who knows?

My non-Red would definitely be Babe Ruth. Picking a Reds player is more difficult, for various reasons. I'll second an earlier choice and go with Joe Nuxhall.

Non Red ---Ruth...Ive always been fascinated by his career and if we were playing stick ball one on one in the streets, he is one of the few MLB players who probally couldn't catch me. Gehrig would be another choice.

Red....Tough one but I would go with either Sparky or Edd Roush. I loved JB as a player but no way would I want to spend an entire day with him.

For the Reds player, I would probably take Rose. I would want someone who played during my youth, so I would be considering Reds from the 60s and 70s when I idolized players. I don't respect Pete as a person but he would have a lot of stories to tell. I agree with George Anderson-while I loved Bench as a player I don't know that I enjoy spending a day with Bench, or with Joe Morgan either. Tony Perez would be a possibility.
For the non-Red I would probably opt for Ted Williams.

Reds: George Foster - my favorite Reds player growing up

Non Reds : Nolan Ryan- I'm sure the guy could throw it by you even in stick ball

Non Baseball (okay I added this one) : Sylvester Stallone- Always loved the stickball scene in Rocky 2 !

Red: Sean Casey - He always just seemed to be someone who really enjoyed playing the game of baseball; less work more play.

Non-Red: Ruth. Easy. A professional clown who also just happened to know how to hit a baseball.
    2014 Reds record: 1-2

    Babe Ruth.

But I'm surprised that no one has said John Olerud yet.

Non-red - Satchel Paige - "Maybe I'll Pitch Forever" was the first baseball book I ever read.

Red - Big Doggie. Tony Perez was always my favorite Red.
