I wonder if Costas will interview him on MLB Network
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

Man, nothing like Redszone to kill a nice optimistic spring training story.

I'm guessing Joey is using his regular stance in BP. I wasn't too worried about his legs getting better. I assumed a winter of rest would help him a lot. Time is always the best medicine for knee injuries IMO.

Thanks for posting this RedsFanMT. Very encouraging to hear.

Whew, was worried this thread title meant Brandon finally got on Joey's last nerve.

Calling shots in Spring Training is not the only thing he can do.

My kids and I are friends with a guy who played on the 2009 Canadian WBC team. A few days ago my son was taking batting practice with him and the subject of Votto came up. This called shot from Spring Training reminds me of this conversation. He told us that Votto hit the ball very hard in one at bat past the second basemen and when he came back to the dugout sat down and said..."How loud do you think this stadium is going to be when I hit the ball into upper deck my next at bat." I think he even told him to what side of the field but I might have been dreaming that.... Next at bat. Home run to where he said it would go.

The guy also was telling us about the first time he saw Votto. He said that the whole team is real professional. They wear very nice clothes, ties, etc. They are always on time. Anyway, they all got on the bus and was waiting for a long time and all of them were upset because they were going to be leaving late. A few minutes later a kid with messed up hair, shirt untucked, no tie, cap on etc got on the bus. One of the players went up to the coach and was complaining about the "new kid." The coach said hey don't worry about it he will learn...let's just go to batting practice and then we can talk about it. Well at batting practice the new kid "Votto" smashed the ball and the rest of the guys didn't complain anymore.

Lasty my son showed me this the other day. I don't know if it has ever been linked before but the video (be sure to watch it) really shows just how much the minor leagues helps. I was stunned at how bad some of his form was...

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

Wow. My mind refuses to accept the fact that Joseph Daniel Votto emerged from the scrawny, hacking Canadian in that video. Whoever pulled the strings in that draft deserves a gold star.

That video absolutely shocked me. There are several kids on my sons high school team that have better "form" than he had fielding and throwing. Of course there are several players that are going to play college and a couple that will probably be drafted at some point also...and none that can hit like him.

I thought some people might enjoy some of the other Reds players so here is a link to all the Reds players. Check out Latos....I don't believe any of the other ones have video like Votto but it is still interesting.

Did he seriously hit a pop-up in that video?

Sounds like the AB vs Peavy. It was a bomb, in the Skydome too.
