Awesome. C Trent is one of the better writers around.

good for C Trent, didn't realize his CBS gig went away. As good as he is, its amazing how many times he's had to shift courses in the sports reporting business.
If anything there needs to be another paper that has a beat writer covering the Reds. With only John Fay on the beat there's no incentive for him to do anything other than lazily tow the Reds' company line. C Trent being hired could be a good thing if he's actually gunning for Fay's job and could light a fire under him...
C. Trent leave.
C Reds fans get upset.
C. Trent come back.
C Reds fans become happy again.
He's an excellent writer and brings valuable insights, which will help balance out the vanilla/boring Fay.
(My only problem with Rosecrans: drop the "C" ... no one is getting you confused with the other "Trent Rosecrans" out there in the sports journalism world; because there are none. Writers who feel the need to add initials to their byline immediately come across as pretentious. End of rant.)
I was a fan of C. Trent until that episode last season with Bruce. I also do not consider myself a knuckle-dragger, fair weather, and I certainly am not a "woo-er". He was out of line, and VERY poorly timed with his reporting, IMO.

I missed all of this. What happened?

Just the whole thing with Jay Bruce. Basically asking Bruce leading questions and getting enough quotable material to make it sound like Jay was "bashing" all Reds fans that attended the games for being too quiet and un-involved. This report conveniently came right after game 4. The timing of it is what really grinds my gears.
Edit - Yep. That's the one. I find it disgraceful.

Do we know for sure they were leading questions? Sounds like Jay was genuinely frustrated after a loss, heard some boos from home fans and (in Jay's polite way) expressed some disappointment to the media about that. Of course, it's entirely possible that Rosecrans was asking leading questions, but I wasn't sure if that was just your assumption, or if Jay came out and clarified what happened. (i.e. "This reporter kept asking me about the fans booing over and over again.")
I seemed to remember hearing that from someone, but in this case I was just making my own assumptions (I know, I know). Honestly, if the same interview had happened in mid-season I wouldn't have even thought twice about it. It just seemed like he stepped in and went out of his way to really dig that knife in and twist it to a fan base that was collectively nervous on the night before the biggest game our favorite team had in years.
