It fascinates how much leeway a good defensive shortstop is able to get in terms of a weak bat.

It's why coming off of a .522 OPS season (336 PA) in 2011, Paul Janish was able to appear in 55 games and sport a .502 OPS (186 PA) in 2012 for a very good Atlanta team. It's just so hard to find a guy that can field the position and have any semblance of a bat.
