There appears to be a lot of ignorant scouts in the game of baseball.

Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance.

    Re: Chapman

I just think it's foolish when I hear a scout making an opinion on a guy one or two starts into the spring. As someone else pointed out, it was March 11, of course Chapman isn't throwing with his max velocity yet. These guys already have their minds made up and refuse to acknowledge the facts.

Price should really have a word with Hal...and ask him exactly what else he has claimed to say. Talk about BS reporting and he has yet to retract that from what I have seen.

Reds players (and Dusty) on Chapman moving to starter. All the players seem to love the move.

    Nice find OBM.

I have heard others say that Chapman could run faster than Drew Stubbs, but here Brandon said he thinks Chapman is faster than Billy Hamilton. Wow!

Maybe someone should ask Aroldis about what he loves. Oh, they have?

[“I developed a taste for the bullpen and wanted to stay there, but the team signed me as a starter, and I believe I can do the job,” Chapman says in Spanish. “I work for them, and I just have to get ready to be a starter and throw as many innings as I can. They know better.”

I heard Denis Phipps loves RF and wants to be the starting RFer. Maybe the Reds should give him the job. Sometimes you don't always get what you want. The Reds have an unbelievable talent in Chapman, and it's time to find out if he can be an elite starter like some believe.

    Re: Chapman

I agree with Baker...and the scouts...on this one.

Of course, that makes Broxton's contract look unnecessary, but I'm sure Dusty doesn't mind having Broxton for the 8th inning.

Jocketty has stated that he has wanted a LHP in the rotation for some time, but surely a decent MOR/BOR lefty can't be that hard to find (Leake got bombed today).

Not to mention, Cingrani probably isn't that far off.

    Re: Chapman

Surely this has been posted already and I missed it.

After his start vs the Giants Saturday, Aroldis Chapman gave his most direct answer yet about his job preference between starting and closing:

“I would like to be the closer,” Chapman said via translator Tomas Vera. “But it’s out of my hands.”

It would be an easy decision if putting him in the rotation to start the season held zero risk, but the reality is a ton of stuff could go wrong. To pretend like him struggling would be an easy move back to the pen without a hitch is very short sighted.

Plus, he hasn't seemed like an emotional rock since he got here and it concerns me that he is becoming more outspoken about his feelings on his role.
