I guess it depends on how you are counting. If you count half a year still at Dayton and then a year each at Bakersfield, Pensacola and Louisville, that would be 3.5 years to go. I think he beats that timetable.

I tend to agree, and think that Broxton's contract structure reflects that.

The Reds have 5 good starting pitchers right now. The Reds bullpen outside of Chapman and LeCure has been bad.

Chapman is right where he is needed.

Simon has been good and Hoover is middle of the pack.
Arise and walk, come through. A world beyond that door is calling out for you. Arise and walk, come through. It's calling out for you.

and Broxton's ERA is under 2.00 if you remove that one bad outing. So I'd have to say that reds44's remark is just plain wrong.

ERA is not a very good statistic for judging the performance of relief pitchers.

Broxton has struggled but it hasn't really cost him so far.

It depends on the relief pitcher. Closers? Sure. They come in with a clean inning just about every time. LOOGY/ROOGY? Not as much.

Broxton has made 24 appearances. He has inherited runners twice. Which means 22 clean appearances. ERs in 5 of those appearances.

Seriously, the guy is perfectly fine. If anyone has a major issue with his performance to date that means there is something else influencing their position.

It's all because of the haircut.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I wish Brox were actually a competent replacement for closer. With his recent performance, I fear he is about to give management (another) reason to keep Chappy in the 'pen.
