Great listen. There was a good article I read awhile back too where JV was talking about carrying Science of Hitting around w/ him. I'm not sure how many around here have read or seen that book, but w/ all the numbers guys around here I would suspect a few. It was WAY ahead of it's time.

Joey Votto is awesome. In other breaking news, the sky is still blue and it's still cold in Cincinnati.
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

Not sure anyone has posted this, but per Fay: "Joey Votto is having a much better spring this year than he had last year. He’s hitting .387/.500/.645. He’s struck out five times in 31 at-bats. Last spring, he hit .264/.350/.321 and struck 19 times in 53 at-bats."

Fangraphs just did a great follow-up piece showing that Votto's insights are supported by the data.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
